The Mont-Blanc Massif is actually a fragile natural environment to which we must pay great attention. To contribute to the protection of it, we are counting on the engagement of each person. We have the duty of doing all that we can to limit our impact to the minimum.

As the organiser, the UTMB® has developed numerous actions to protect the natural environment and to raise awareness amongst all the players. This is a collective action which involves the organisation, regional groups, runners and supporters, partners and volunteers( Ambassadors for the Environment).

We, ourselves, have formed a Commission for the Environment which guides the projects and we set ourselves ambitious environmental objectives. We are always looking for ways of progressing in this domain and incite everybody to adopt an ecologically responsible attitude.

Transport

An ambitious and eco-responsible transport planAt a time when eco-responsibility is at the heart of our concerns, sport too must set an example.
A first public transport plan was set up in 2004 (for the second edition of the UTMB®) in order to drastically reduce car use and the resulting polluting emissions.
In 2017, the entire organisation was renewed to encourage runners and their entourage to take the bus and to prevent the use of near-empty vehicles.

Every year, the UTMB® Mont-Blanc puts in place a shuttle service that provides a more sustainable solution for runners, crews and spectators.

  • 15,000 people use our shuttle service every year
  • 150 shuttles travel around the Mont-Blanc regionfor every edition of the UTMB® Mont-Blanc
  • 7 exceptional shuttle lines set up for the event
For runners : Shuttles to the start of your races! 
For  accompanying persons : UTMB® Bus shuttles to follow your runners all week long! 
For spectators : UTMB® Bus shuttles to get you to the different strategic points of the races! 

During the race

  • The organisation of a transport plan for the runners and the supporters allowing movement around all the strategic points of the race route.
  • Free buses for the runners
  • Optimum use of buses for the volunteers
  • Very interesting tarifs for accompanying persons
  • More than 2000 accompnying persons transported
  • Closure of certain roads to favour transport public
  • Free shuttle buses in the Chamonix Mont-Blanc Valley 
  • A "Base Camp" to keep your accompanying persons warm!
