The UTMB® Mont-Blanc 2022 will take place from August 22 to 28, 2022.

The following runners may enter the lottery for the 2022 UTMB®, CCC®, TDS® and OCC races of the UTMB® Mont-Blanc:

  • Runners who have collected Running Stones by participating in the UTWT circuit.
  • Runners who have acquired the requested qualifying points

Apart from the lottery, places will already be reserved for priority runners (solidarity bibs, volunteers, partners, elites, runners registered for the 2020 event).

NB: The MCC is reserved for UTMB® volunteers, partners and local runners. A specific entry process applies to the PTL® and YCC.

Runners who have collected Running Stones

What is a Running Stone?

One Running Stone will provide one entry in the lottery to participate in the UTMB®, CCC®, TDS® and OCC races at UTMB® Mont-Blanc. You can trade-in more Running Stones to improve your odds in the lottery – if you wish.

For example, if you have 9 Running Stones, your name appears 9 times in the lottery, thus tripling your odds in the lottery vs someone who only has 3 Running Stones.

How do I collect Running Stones?

 " by UTMB® " Races

9 Running Stones will be awarded to all finishers of a 50+ km "by UTMB®" race*.

(*) Attention there is an exception for Val d'Aran by UTMB® 2021 (see details here).

UTWT Races

3 Running Stone will be awarded to all finishers of a 50+ km UTWT race (except for the UTMB®, CCC®, TDS®, OCC, YCC and PTL® races of the UTMB® Mont-Blanc which do not allow the collection of Running Stones).

Local runners

MCC finishers will collect 3 Running Stone.

See complete list of races here.

How can I enter the lottery with my Running Stones?

Running Stones are recorded on your runner's account. You may pre-register for the race of your choice and use your Running Stones stock to improve your odds in the lottery.

NB: Only runners who have a valid UTMB® Index in the 100K or 100M category may apply to enter the UTMB® race.

If you are selected via the lottery, the Running Stones will disappear from your stock.
If you are not selected via the lottery, your Running Stones stock remains untouched and can be used for a subsequent year’s lottery.

Special consideration - runners who have collected Running Stones in 2020

If you don’t use your Running Stones in 2021, you may use them for 2022 registration. In that scenario, your 2020 Running Stones will be converted as follows:

  • You will get 9 Running Stones for each 2020 "by UTMB®" completed race.
  • You will get 3 Running Stone for each 2020 UTWT completed race.

Runners who have the requested qualifying points

Runners who haven’t collected Running Stones may participate in the lottery if they have the requested qualifying points.

Qualifying points

Only runners who have completed some of the races included in the UTMB® list of qualifying races between January 1, 2019 and December 31, 2021 may register:

  • UTMB®: 10 points acquired between 01/01/2019 and 31/12/2021 (in 2 races maximum)
  • CCC®: 6 points acquired between 01/01/2019 and 31/12/2021 (in 2 races maximum)
  • TDS®: 8 points acquired between 01/01/2019 and 31/12/2021 (in 2 races maximum)
  • OCC: 4 points acquired between 01/01/2019 and 31/12/2021 (in 2 races maximum)

Finishers of the 2018 UTMB® Mont-Blanc races may also use these races as qualifying races.

How do I enter the lottery?

Runners who have the requested qualifying points may enter the lottery for the race of their choice. They will participate in the lottery with 1 chance (their name will appear once in the lottery). The runners refused at the 2020 UTMB® Mont-Blanc lottery will participate in the 2022 draw with 2 chances (their name will appear twice in the lottery).

If you are selected, you may enter the race of your choice.

If you enter the lottery but fail to gain entry into the race of your choice, this will not improve your odds in a subsequent year’s lottery.

Group registration

It is possible to pre-register as a group (minimum 2 people, maximum 12 people per group) with your partner, friends, etc.

The only advantage of the group registration is that all members of the group get the same result in the lottery: that means, everybody is selected or nobody is selected.

The probability of being selected is the same for all runners, whether they apply individually or as a group.

The first member of the group who pre-registers must click on "Group Registration" thus obtaining a group number which has to be shared with the other members. Then, each runner of the group must log in to their own runner’s account, click on "group registration", enter the group number shared by the first member of the group and finalize the pre-registration.

A group may consist of runners pre-registered for different races. In this case, the group participates in the lottery for the race for which the percentage of chance of winning is the weakest.

NB: Group registration is only possible for runners who must enter the lottery. Runners who already benefit from having a place reserved for them cannot register as a group.

Runners registered in 2020

Following the cancellation of the 2020 event, runners who registered for the UTMB®, CCC®, TDS® and OCC will benefit from having a place reserved for them in the same race in either 2021, 2022 or 2023.

Those who have not used it in 2021 will be able to use it in 2022.

The organization will contact these runners to detail the registration process.

Don’t forget: Runners in this case must follow the same regulations as a regular registration (qualifying points, entry fees, etc.) except that they don’t have to go through the lottery process.

Runners who wish to reserve a charity bib (solidarity/health/environment)

Runners may register for a race - without having to go through the lottery - by making a 2000€ donation  to one of the charitable associations supported by the organization (as per the current regulations). The runner may be supported by a donor/donors of their choice, private or commercial, to raise the funds. Please note that there is only a limited number of charity bibs available.

How to register

  • Applicants need to log in to their runner’s account,  click on  "Book a solidarity/health/environment race-bib ", and chose the association they wish to support and the race they would like to participate in.
  • Once the bib is reserved, the runner has one week to make the donation to the chosen association to confirm the reservation of the race-bib.
  • The association informs the UTMB® once the payment has been processed.
  • The UTMB® then emails the runner the special registration procedure.

If the donation is not made within the deadline, the race-bib will be available for other runners to reserve it.

NB: if all the available solidarity, health and environment race bibs have been reserved, the exceeding requests for a charity race bib will be put on the waiting list.

Don’t forget: Runners who wish to apply for a charity race bib must follow the same regulations as a regular registration (qualifying points, entry fees, etc.) except that they don’t have to go through the lottery process.
The donor will under no circumstances be refunded all (or part of) the donation. When registrating for a race, the same regulations apply to all runners (including charity runners): those who wish to cancel their registration will be refunded a certain amount depending on the date of the cancellation.
