UTMB® a solidarity event

Solidarity and UTMB®

UTMB® a solidarity event

Since the very beginning, the UTMB® has always wanted to associate the energy of the event with a spirit of solidarity.

Our inner mountain culture gives great importance to human relations and mutual aid. It generates the desire to help others win their own battles: to overcome a difficult time, to fight a disease, to help children grow up and be happy.

We also stand in solidarity with the citizens of less privileged countries where access to water, education and training is sometimes difficult.

Solidarity actions are promoted by the Solidarity Committee of the Trailers du Mont Blanc association.

There are two ways to collect funds for partner associations:

Charity bibs and runners' donations during their registration

The 4 associations supported thanks to the 2021 races are the following:

1. GIROTONDO

Girotondo is an Italian non-profit charitable association composed of people with physical, psychic and/or sensory disabilities who want to be the protagonists of their own lives. They collaborate with those who choose to share their path towards autonomy: for example, their families or technical and social workers wishing to tackle together the specific problems related to the different forms of disability.
The Girotondo association wishes to contribute to the development of a culture that considers the disabled person as the active and responsible protagonist of their life.
The Aosta Girotondo Association promotes and organizes activities to encourage the active participation in social life of people with disability and their emancipation.
The Girotondo Association promotes the exchange of knowledge and experience, through contacts with other social charities – public or private - working in the field of disability in Valle d'Aosta.

3.  LOISIRS ASSIS EVASION & ROTARY

The ROTARY CLUB CHAMONIX MONT BLANC MEGEVE, historical partner of the UTMB, chooses an association to which it donates its entire share of the runners' donations: for 2022, it is the Association Loisirs Assis Evasion which has been chosen!
LOISIRS ASSIS EVASION, an association based in Passy, offers to practice sports activities specific to the mountain to all people with reduced mobility: motor deficiencies (paraplegics, tetraplegics...) sensory or intellectual, disability from birth or following an accident in life (motorcycle, car, sport) without forgetting the elderly...

In the summer, Loisirs Assis Evasion offers the possibility to ride down the trails of our region with adapted equipment including the Quadrix with electric batteries, accompanied by trained professionals, in perfect safety, with possible access to many mountain refuges!

Another activity, paragliding, with take-off in two-seater and chair from the take-off area of Plaine Joux for a magical flight over the whole Mont Blanc range.
In winter, Loisirs Assis Evasion offers ski descents (Tandemski or Dualski) on the slopes of several resorts in the Mont Blanc region and even the Vallée Blanche!

4. PAKO'Z'OTRES

Pako'z'otre is a Swiss non-profit association created on December 15, 2015. Its objective is to brighten the daily life of families weakened by the hospitalization of a child. This small association is made up of 4 people driven by the desire to improve the daily life of children with cancer: this father, mother and godfather and godmother try their best to achieve their goal after having been closely affected by the loss of a child.

By supporting our association, you allow us to organize different activities or events to involve children of all ages in order to make them aware of solidarity, respect and difference.

More concretely, thanks to generous donors, but also to the sale of pastries, gifts, charity concerts and the creation of calendars involving more than 1'000 students, the association was able to achieve the following:
- more than 2'000 gifts collected in favour of the children of the CHUV
- 80 gifts delivered to Terre des Hommes in Massongex
- 500 t-shirts offered to the girls of the race la Montheysanne
- 10,000€ donated to the Pinceaux Magiques “Magic Brushes” to paint and create with the little artists in hospital.
- 3,000€ to ARFEC to enable 6 sick children to go camping
- 3,000€ to Les Anges d'Angeline to support the families of hospitalized children.
- 1,000€ to the Ligue Valaisanne contre le Cancer for local support in Valais

During these 5 years, the board of Pako'z'ôtre came up with thousands of ideas to make your generous donations bear fruit, to organize many moving events and especially to pass on a magnificent message of hope, carried by the desire to make things happen.
As for 2021, the association only aims to keep doing the great job started 5 years ago! Indeed, given our small size, we remain at the end of each year surprised by all the work we’ve done. So, I feel like saying... according to desires and requests... as long as we manage to offer happiness through our actions... we are satisfied!
