UTMB® Mont-Blanc: The end of this emotional 2021 edition
There were many emotional moments on this UTMB® Mont-Blanc 2021. Memories too. Starting with the PTL® and its departure from Switzerland for the modern-day heroes who came to experience the adventure of a lifetime with their fellow climbers. The PTL® and its staggering figures, 300km and 25,000 metres of ascent to be completed in less than 151 hours. No ranking but teams finishing side by side, drenched in sweat, helmets attached to their bags, frank and emotional hugs and that mountain spirit so palpable at the finish.

UTMB® - 4th victory for D'Haene, 2nd for Dauwalter
François d'Haene won the 18th edition of the UTMB® early this afternoon, after 20 hours and 45 minutes of racing. He becomes the first athlete to win a fourth title on the event's flagship race (following victories in 2012, 2014 and 2017), just six weeks after winning and setting a new record on the American Hardrock race, held at an altitude of more than 3000 metres.

At the end of a spectacular race, François D’Haene claims victory and becomes the most successful runner of the UTMB®
20:45 is the time it took François D'Haene to win the UTMB® 2021. Starting off with the favourites, he broke away during the night to take the lead with the American Jim Walmsley, who ended up retiring after Courmayeur. With 170km and a 10,000 metre-climb, the race was very physically demanding, taking its toll on the runners, with the retirement of a good part of the favourites in Italy.

The UTMB® took his flight, and Garriver finally won on CCC®!
After two years of anticipation and preparation, trail running enthusiasts from around the world were finally back to the start line of the UTMB®, this afternoon from 05:00PM CET. After a moving tribute to the runner deceased on the TDS®, but also in the memory of Andrea Huser and Emma Rocca, two athletes who have been part of the UTMB® race in the past few years, as well as Jin Liang who was supposed to be on the start line this year, the elite athletes took off from the Place du Triangle de l’Amitié, followed by a second wave of regular runners 30 minutes later, and a third wave at 06:00PM CET.

UTMB® Mont-Blanc: World trail champions claim victory in OCC
Britain's Jonathan Albon and Frenchwoman Blandine L’Hirondel – who are the reigning trail running world champions - today won the OCC in record times in ideal racing conditions. 1,200 runners set off this morning from Orsières at 8:15am for the 56km and 3500m D + challenge. The UK’s Jonathan Albon and Robbie Simpson quickly took the lead in a battle that kept followers guessing right until the end. Albon seemingly had the edge in the descents, while Scotsman Simpson – who was 2nd in Sierre Zinal just three weeks ago - took control on the flat and on the climbs.

UTMB® Mont-Blanc 2021 continues despite tragedy on the TDS®
The TDS® - one of seven races taking place this week as part of the UTMB® Mont-Blanc – was marked by tragedy today, following the death of a runner at Passeur de Pralognan. Following the incident, some 293 runners were able to continue their race, completing the 145-kilometer (90-mile) event in Chamonix, France.

Flash info UTMB® Mont-Blanc 2021: Organizers confirm the tragic death of a runner on the TDS®
At 12:25am CET on Wednesday 25th August, the UTMB® Mont-Blanc Race Committee was informed that a TDS runner had a serious accident on the descent of the Passeur de Pralognan. This section of the course has been a part of many previous editions of the TDS®. There were dedicated safety and security resources present to support athletes in this part of the course.

UTMB® Mont-Blanc 2021: serious accident on the TDS® and race is halted
The UTMB® Mont-Blanc organization's race headquarters has been informed of the fall of a Czech TDS® runner on the descent of the Passeur de Pralognan at km 62.3 at 00:25. The rescue team present at the top of the pass intervened on the spot immediately after the fall. The intervention was completed by a helicopter rescue.
