UTMB Stars - Marco Olmo
- Marco Olmo, the patriarch of endurance racing -
Marco marks the UTMB® since his first participation: without pole or cardiofrequency, Marco starts slowly, he lets the others pass him, always calm, with his characteristic low stride. Marco runs with his instinct, following its feelings. When he’s tired, he leans forward, its hands behind his back, its blue eyes focused on the path, he does not slow down. "He stops rarely, he's a true metronome", say the runners who have shared UTMB® with him. Twenty-one hours later, having catch-up all the runners, he is the first to arrive in Chamonix where the crowd welcome him triumphally. With this commitment and dedication to trail running, Marco succeeded at the most difficult endurance races: Marathon des Sables, Libya Marathon, Desert Cup and UTMB® twice in 2006 and 2007, winning the race at almost 60 years old. Today, Marco Olmo continues to inspire a whole generation of runners, showing them that with little, much can be done.
